March 31, 1995.

At around 11:48 a.m. at the Days Inn Motel in Corpus Christi, Texas, a long trail of blood follows a 23-year-old woman as she flees from her assailant. She headed towards what she believed to be the only place in the motel to get help. The Lobby of the Motel.

She burst through the door into the lobby room and collapsed. The motel staff at first were too shocked to move. They could not process why a woman would barge in and collapse. Then it occurred to them that she was bleeding profusely.

One of the staff rushed to her aid while another called 911.

“Bitch!” screamed her assailant outside the lobby. Whoever it was, did not enter the lobby room neither did anyone in the lobby think of going out to find out who it was.

With the little strength she had, the young woman mentioned the room number where she was shot and the name of her assailant. The staff called the police.

One of the customers who was present in the lobby recognized the young woman on the floor. “Oh my goodness, is that Selena?”

Losing so much blood, the staff holding her tried to keep her awake before the ambulance could arrive. But her condition was deteriorating quickly and she was responding less.
